Follow Up Seminar in Vanadzor

Regional follow up seminars started in November 2011. They are designed to give the GLOW girls and their peers in regions of Armenia a possibility to deepen their knowledge and acquire new skills in one of the GLOW topics. The GLOW alumnae help our trainers to select the topics and organize the seminar connecting to local partners and occasionally co-facilitating the sessions. They also are yet another event motivating the girls to be active in their community and organize events on their own together with their peers and local organizations.
As expected the GLOW alumnae in Lori, Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions became very enthusiastic knowing that GLOW follow ups will be held in their regions. They worked with the trainers and SYC staff to choose the location and date for the event, invite teenagers from the region and identify the appropriate topics for the session.

“Team work was the topics of the seminar in Vanadzor. Twenty-three girls took part in it from Lori region. The goal of the training was to give some theoretical input to the girls about team work, team actors, stages of team development and importance of working with others for success. I choose interactive methods and participatory activities to give the girls the chance to use the newly acquired knowledge and evaluate their skills in teamwork. One of the tasks was in a small team to build th e tallest stand-alone tower using the provided materials. The girls were enthusiastic to do the activities and were active in discussions to follow. They brought up the topics of decision making and cooperation, awareness of being a part of team and importance of communication during the discussions. They asked for more seminars and opportunities in 2012.” Meline Maghakyan
